Abby Trattles is an Atlanta based designer specializing in repeating patterns that uncover the whimsical among the mundane. Done in a painterly style many of her motifs are brimming with the nostalgia of looking through grandma’s fabric stash, twisting vines, delicate teacups, and intricate flowers often appear. Inspired by her interest in nature, obsession with small creatures, and childhood love of Beatrix Potter, Abby manages to find beauty in the unexpected. Whether it is a frog in her garden or mice at a tea party. Even bugs can be cute on a picnic!
It’s not all tulips and tea parties though. Abby can bring a darker side to her work, a beautiful flower with razor sharp teeth, or mysterious eyes peering from the inky blackness feel right at home in her style as well. Just like the artist, her work can be dark and mysterious or open and adorable.
Hiking with her husband, Abby will often pause to consider the flora and fauna, perhaps that rock formation could be a fairy city, or maybe these mushrooms shelter chipmunks from storms. Constantly brainstorming she can be inspired by just about anything, from her fluffy dog to a scuttling beetle.
